Leicestershire construction firm falls into administration

Coalville-based Paul John Construction (Leicester) has been placed into administration.

Representatives from FRP Advisory have been appointed to look after the day-to-day running of the construction firm.

In its latest results, Paul John Construction said that the pandemic and subsequent lockdown last March had curtailed a turnaround programme after the company had lost £1.3m in 2018 and £175,000 in 2019.

The company, which specialised in groundworks for the construction sector, has experienced significant financial challenges which left the business unable to meet its financial obligations. As a result, the business ceased operations prior to the administrators appointment and all 34 employees were made redundant.

The joint administrators are proceeding with an orderly wind down of the business and are working with a specialist quantity surveying practice to extract value from the significant debtor ledger, whilst supporting affected employees in making their claims to the Redundancy Payments Service.
