Funeral director submits plans for first-ever cemetery

Nottinghamshire funeral directors, AW Lymn The Family Funeral Service, has submitted a planning application for its first cemetery to be built near Calverton.

Following initial planning permission for a cemetery, the plans have been submitted to Gedling Borough Council to extend the site to create a woodland burial ground, erection of a facilities building and car park.

Located off George’s Lane outside the village, the funeral director plans to create 17 acres of burial space within the 27-acre site.

Pete Clarson, commercial director at AW Lymn, said: “We plan to create a multi-functional cemetery capable of supporting a variety of burial options, respecting the character of the site’s rural context, and enhancing the potential of the site for wildlife.

“This is the first cemetery the Lymn Rose family business will have owned, which is a significant step for us. We’re continuously looking for ways we can expand our service offering to those in the region and this cemetery would allow exactly that.”
