Two new venues are set to open in Beeston’s flagship Square development in the coming months.

Italian restaurant Ottimo is due to open in the first week of April, while The Beeston Social, a bar, kitchen and arcade run by the company behind Nottingham’s Das Kino, The Blind Rabbit and The Hockley Arts Club, looks set to be up and running by early May.

Daniel Ellis, director of Fletcher Gate Industries, says the 8,000 sq ft Beeston Social, said: “It’ll be somewhere to eat, drink and play, with something for all the family, whether that be stopping off on their way to watch a film, grabbing an after-dinner cocktail, or lazy Sundays exploring our food menu.”

Ellis added: “It’s the first time we’ve combined all these features in to one venue and we really hope the people of Beeston enjoy it. The town has so much going for it and we can’t wait to be a part of such a wonderful community.”

The venue will employ around 70 people.

Ottimo, an Italian restaurant from the team behind Nottingham venues Sans Patrie and Bar Sans Patrie is due to open its doors in the first week of April.

The centre-piece of the restaurant, which will focus on authentic Italian flavours, will be a large brick pizza oven. The menu has been developed by the company’s executive chef Keelan Burton and includes dishes like wild boar parpadelle, and spiced duck breast with sweet potato fondant and chilli pesto.

Owner Ross Considine said: “It’s not going to be like your typical Italian chain restaurant. “This will be really well-executed, authentic Italian food, served in relaxed but stylish surroundings. What we’re creating here is something very special and we’re excited to be bringing it to Beeston.”

The 3,000 sq ft, 150-seater venue, which has created 45 jobs, will have a contemporary feel with touches of rustic Italy and will be open from 12pm every day.

The multimillion- pound Beeston Square redevelopment, masterminded by Broxtowe Borough Council, is currently home to the Arc Cinema, which opened its doors in May last year. An announcement on the tenant for the one remaining vacant unit is expected to be made within the next few weeks.

Zulf Darr, deputy chief executive of Broxtowe Borough Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see the changes that are taking place in Beeston Square and we’re extremely excited to welcome these two new venues to our town, just in time for the warmer months.

“They really are fabulous additions to Beeston’s vibrant bar and restaurant scene and I can’t wait to see people visiting and enjoying them.”
