Menswear retailer gets wise with pair of new openings

Wise Guys

A fast-growing menswear retailer has added two new stores to its portfolio.

Wise Guys Menswear has taken the lease on a 1,859 sq ft unit in Chesterfield and a larger 6,000 sq ft premises in Newark town centre.

The latter unit, which will become the firm’s flagship store, was once home to Dorothy Perkins.

The retailer will be joined by its sister brand, Wise Girls, at the Stodman Street site.

Wise Guys made the move to larger premises in the town after outgrowing its unit on Middle Gate.

FHP Property Consultants completed the lettings on behalf of private landlords.

Oliver Marshall, associate director at FHP, said: “It’s brilliant to see an independent retailer like Wise Guys growing. They have taken on two very prominent locations in attractive market towns.

“Mike [Willis, director] is a great operator and we wish him well on these new openings.”

Wise Guys has further outlets in Sleaford and Melton Mowbray.

Willis said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue to grow the business. Chesterfield is a great new location for us and the increased size in Newark means we can add to the range, expand the formalwear side and introduce our sister company Wise Girls.”
