Selcon and DL Design ready to take the stage at Hot Property 2022

This year’s Nottingham Hot Property fundraising concert is set to be bigger and better than ever and attended by a whole host of industry professionals from the construction sector. The night of live music will see the biggest names in construction perform to raise much needed funds for children’s charities across the region. We speak to Sam Fowkes of construction consultancy firm Selcon and Dan Lacey from architectural and interior design experts DL Design Studio, to find out what they’re most looking forward to from the event.
What are you most looking forward to about NHP 2022?
S: We’re looking forward to being one of the sponsors this year and supporting a great local charity, whilst promoting Nottingham’s construction industry.
DL: Meeting up with all the participants again, they’re such a positive and supporting bunch of people, it’s nice to be part of the event.
Why did you decide to sponsor NHP?
S: We chose to sponsor this year’s event because members of our team have sung in the past two events and have been in the audience for years before that. It’s an honour to support such a great cause.
DL: For us it’s about the choice of charity, Footprints. Having grown with experience and an acute awareness of children with Down’s syndrome, we understand the value of any structured support for both the children and their families.
What do you think of this year’s theme?
S: It’s a great theme and gives everyone a good opportunity to perform a wide variety of songs. I also feel it has encouraged new people to take part this year, both musically and vocally.
DL: We’re fully on board with the theme. John Motson actually presented us with an award for a development project involving the conversion of a listed building in 2017.
How has the last year been for you?
S: It’s been a fantastic year for us. We’ve taken on new staff as well as some new and exciting projects. We have also just expanded into an Alfreton office, so we’re keen to see where that leads us.
DL: Post-pandemic has been a mixed bag for us. Whilst we’re busy and have lots of great projects in the practice, there have been significant hold-ups caused by the current delays in the planning process and complexities in the supply chains.
