A new entertainment space and public garden in Derby city centre first mooted in January is set to open to the public later this month.

Nature-based regeneration organisation Down to Earth Derby has transformed a disused site near Sadler Gate and Bold Lane Car Park into an outdoor venue complete with food outlets, dining areas, events space and a cocktail bar.

The site has been dubbed Electric Daisy.

Plans for the development were submitted to Derby City Council by Simon Foote Architects earlier this year with the support of the Eden Project, Marketing Derby and Katapult.

Electric Daisy will officially open on Saturday 20 May.

Jamie Quince-Starkey, founder of Down to Earth Derby, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of Electric Daisy, which will be an exciting new addition to Derby’s landscape.

“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Electric Daisy on 20 May for what promises to be a wonderful day of festivities and community engagement.”
