Administrator named at collapsed civils firm

Begbies Traynor has been appointed as administrator to a collapsed Heanor-based civil engineering firm, it has emerged.

On 2 May we reported that the future looked uncertain for Atlas Building and Civil Engineering after it posted a second notice of intention (NOI) to appoint administrators.

Atlas Building and Civil Engineering posted the second NOI on April 28, two weeks after the first. It was also served with a winding up petition on April 19.

On May 3 bosses at the company decided to close it down with the loss of around 40 jobs. Begbies Traynor was appointed as administrator on May 15, TheBusinessDesk.com understands.

Director Jamie Lord told trade title Construction Enquirer: “The downturn in housing simply made it unsustainable to continue because all the work has dried up.”

Atlas has been trading for 25 years.
