Hungry Godwin snaps up drive-thru site

Property investor Godwin Developments has bought a site on Brookside Business Park in Uttoxeter town centre in a deal brokered by Burton agents Rushton Hickman.

The news follows planning approval on the land for a new Starbucks drive-thru and six ultra-rapid EV charging points.

The site is adjacent to a 22,873 sq ft Lidl supermarket on Town Meadows Way.

Rushton Hickman director Mark Richardson said: “Quick Service Restaurants and drive-thrus are continuing to thrive. This subsector has proven to be one of the most resilient during the pandemic and now seems to be really leading the charge. It is no surprise this site has been selected given the number of anchor tenants already in the locality.”

Graham Bancroft, director at Rushton Hickman added: “Developers remain keen to acquire sites in prominent locations for roadside users. It is one of the main areas of expansion in the retail and leisure market.

“This site is a great example of how a strong range of tenants attract other prominent names to a development. In this case there are a host of other well-known occupiers nearby including Tesco’s Lidl and KFC all of which are complementary to the Starbucks brand.

“The addition of six ultra-rapid EV charging points makes the site even more in line with current needs and trends as well as supporting more sustainable methods of travel.”
