Tram services resume but engineering works begin

Nottingham’s trams have resumed this morning after a communications fault caused no services to run yesterday.

However today is the first day of two weeks of summer engineering works by tram operator NET.

While tracks and points are being replaced around The Forest, trams will be unable to run between Wilkinson Street and Old Market Square, and a dedicated replacement bus will operate between the two stops until the completion of the works on August 31.

In the meantime, the replacement bus will operate every ten minutes to connect with the rest of the tram network, and members of the NET Customer Experience team will be on hand to offer travel advice to passengers who are also being asked to allow extra time for their journeys.

Trevor Stocker, NET head of pperations, said: “We would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while this essential work is carried out as part of planned infrastructure renewals that are vital for the safety and reliability of future tram services.”

A full tram service is set to resume on Friday, September 1.
