Building materials firm snapped up by major construction group
Aggregate Industries has acquired a supplier of primary and recycled construction materials, as it looks to boost its position in the market.
Land Recovery has been snapped up to expand the firm’s access to construction demolition materials, as Land Recovery recycled more than 300,000 tons last year.
It supplies primary rail ballast, handling and treating spent ballast and recycles it either for the rail network or back into the value chain to create products such as readymix, precast concrete and asphalt.
Founded in 1982 by the Beecroft Family, Land Recovery employs 85 people plus 18 contractors, across four sites. Its main UK operations base is located in Stoke-on-Trent, where it conducts the majority of its business. It also has a rail yard site in Dewsbury in West Yorkshire along with quayside sites at Lowestoft in East Anglia and Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
Leicestershire-based Aggregate Industries forms part of the Holcim group, a Swiss multinational company that has a presence in around 60 countries and employs around 63,000 employees.
