Canvas supplier has growth covered after key acquisition
A specialised canvas supplier based in Derbyshire has snapped up a caravan and motorhome coverings firm.
Specialised Canvas Services, of Chesterfield, has bought Protec Covers, also based in the town. Protec is a leading manufacturer and retailer of motorhome and caravan covers.
Specialised Canvas Services’ 24,000 sq ft premises allows it to design, manufacture, and repair a wide variety of products including transport covers, made-to-measure gazebo panels and protective plastic that has been used in both the Ebola epidemic and the Covid pandemic.
The firm is part of the Specialised Canvas Group which also includes Banner Box Print Solutions, offering large format printing, and Flagmakers, which supplies bespoke flag and flagpole products.
Paul Noble, managing director of Specialised Canvas, said: “With our extensive fabric and sewing capacity and expertise, along with our years of experience within the leisure vehicle industry, we are perfectly positioned to build on Protec’s success and continue providing customers with market-leading products and services.”
“Our team has been hard at work to ensure a seamless transition in production and resolve any fabric supply challenges. We are pleased to announce that we are currently fulfilling past orders and accepting new ones for caravan towing jackets and caravan covers. Looking ahead, we expect to restart production of motorhome and campervan covers by late 2024, once we have addressed our current backlog.”
