Major site next to National Watersports Centre expected to sell for over £4.5m

A 347-acre plot of land just outside Nottingham is up for sale – with agents saying the site could be transformed into a centre for  agricultural use or outdoor recreation.

The site sits next to Holme Pierrepont Country Park and the National Watersports Centre, and features a mix of grasslands, forests, and open water.

Quarrying, which started in the area in the 1940s, stopped around two decades ago.

Mather Jamie is managing the sale, with offers expected to exceed £4.5m.

Gary Kirk, director of Mather Jamie said: “This is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a large parcel of land with potential for a variety of uses, situated on the fringe of Nottingham with exceptional potential for development of a variety of alternative uses.”

The land was previously used for sand and gravel extraction, which created wetlands and a large open water area.

Mather Jamie says the site could now be used for agricultural buildings, forestry, outdoor sports or recreation, along with “other potential uses”.
