Sustainable packaging giant invests in counterpart
Northamptonshire-based VPK Packaging Group, an international supplier of sustainable packaging solutions, has invested in Fencor Packaging Group, a company specialising in packaging design and manufacturing.
The investment amount remains undisclosed, with the EY Midlands Corporate Finance team facilitating the deal on behalf of Fencor.
Founded in 1997 and based in Peterborough, Fencor designs and manufactures corrugated packaging for various blue-chip customers.
The company includes Manor Packaging, which provides corrugated packaging and flexographic printing and holds a minority stake in Corrboard UK, an environmentally friendly manufacturer of corrugated sheets.
VPK Packaging Group has over 6,500 employees across more than 70 locations in 20 countries.
Established in 1935, the company focuses on producing corrugated cardboard, solid board, and paper-based packaging, with an emphasis on recycled materials.
EY conducted a dual-track process to find a partner in VPK that shares Fencor’s vision and growth ambitions.
The EY Midlands M&A team, including Jeremy Harrison, Ant Edwards, Hannah Nonas, Pauline So, Carrick Waldron, and Matthew Eves, provided advisory services to Fencor, with additional support from the private tax team.
Ant Edwards, director in EY’s Corporate Finance team in Birmingham, said: “The strategic partnership with VPK aligns perfectly with Fencor’s vision and growth ambitions. This partnership provides VPK with a complementary product offering and supports their international expansion ambitions. Congratulations to senior leadership, management and the rest of the team for building an outstanding business. I look forward to watching Fencor thrive in partnership with VPK.”
David Orr, group managing director of Fencor, said: “We are very happy to be creating closer ties with VPK. Fencor and VPK have co-operated closely for over 10 years as partners in Corrboard UK, so we know and understand each other well. We see this as a very positive development for Fencor’s customers, staff and suppliers.”
