Broadband connection restored to thousands of homes and businesses
Work has completed to reconnect thousands of homes and businesses in Nottinghamshire to their broadband connections after a 700-metre stretch of fibre cable was “maliciously” damaged.
Openreach, the BT-owned firm that maintains telephone cables, ducts, cabinets and exchanges that connect nearly all homes and businesses in the UK, says that “great progress” had made been made on Monday (October 14).
The new cable was delivered to Nottingham on Monday, with work completed by 10pm that evening.
A spokesperson for Openreach said: “Our engineers have been working throughout Monday to get broadband back up and running in South Nottinghamshire. They’ve replaced and repaired 700 metres of damaged cable, and reconnected thousands of premises. Everything is now back to normal and we thank the local community for their patience and understanding.”
