Accounting firm expands tax team with new hire

Accountancy and business advisory firm PKF Smith Cooper has expanded its tax team with the addition of a new personal tax manager at its Derby office.
James Barry, a chartered tax advisor with over seven years of personal tax experience at a top 10 UK firm, joins the team.
He has also worked for two years at one of the UK’s leading R&D consultancy firms.
Barry has expertise in high-value capital disposals, remuneration planning, income tax, and capital gains tax, with a particular focus on unincorporated businesses, including partnerships, sole traders, and rental properties.
The firm’s new hire comes after its rebrand to align with the PKF Global network.
Barry said: “I’m looking forward to joining the team and contributing to its success and continued growth. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and contributing to the great culture at the firm.”
Dean Castledine, private client director at PKF Smith Cooper, said: “James is a great addition to the tax department and wider firm. His expertise in personal tax will be an asset to both our team and clients.”
