Food wholesaler serves up big plans ahead of 80th anniversary

Masons team

A family-owned food wholesaler in Leicester has revealed an expansion programme as it nears its 80th anniversary.

Masons Foodservice plans to expand by increasing storage capacity, forging new supplier partnerships and joining the Sterling Supergroup Wholesale Buying Group.

A 20,000 sq ft warehouse has been added to its existing facilities, almost doubling its storage space.

The firm says that joining the Sterling Supergroup brings access to competitive pricing and new collaborations with suppliers such as Nestlé, Unilever and Britannia Sugars.

Masons hopes the new partnerships will enable the company to expand its offerings while delivering greater value to customers.

Founded in 1945, the business started as a single-van operation supplying fish and poultry.

George Mason, owner of Mason Foodservice, said: “This expansion represents a transformative moment for our business. By combining increased capacity, a broader product range, and improved pricing power, we are setting the stage for sustained growth and improved service to our customers. Becoming a part of the Sterling Supergroup family has allowed us to give our customers access to a larger range of products at fantastic prices. Along with the changes the Mason Foods team is making with technological advancements, it’s a proud step forward as we approach our 80th year in business.”
