MD marks 10 years at the helm of family funeral business

Matthew Lymn Rose

A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service, a fifth-generation family business in the East Midlands, is marking 10 years under its current managing director.

Matthew Lymn Rose stepped into the role in late 2014, succeeding his father, Nigel Lymn Rose, who now serves as company chairman.

Matthew Lymn Rose had been with the company for a decade as a funeral director before assuming leadership earlier than expected, initially on an interim basis due to his father’s illness.

When Nigel Lymn Rose returned six months later, his son’s position as managing director became permanent.

Over the past decade, he has overseen changes, including the company’s expansion into the West Midlands with the purchase of Hammerwich Crematorium & Cemetery in Lichfield.

A.W. Lymn has also developed plans for a cemetery and ancient barrows site in Calverton, Nottinghamshire and expanded Nottinghamshire funeral directors M.A. Mills.

The company has also modernised its fleet, incorporating Rolls Royce Phantom VIIs and investing in electric hearses, limousines and ambulances.

Internally, he has focused on refining company procedures as A.W. Lymn has grown to 25 funeral homes and more than 130 employees.

Matthew Lymn Rose said: “We have always been here to provide the highest quality of service to the bereaved, and re-invest back into improving our business, standards and facilities. This will always remain paramount to us.

“Looking forward, I hope that we’ll continue to expand geographically to keep offering our traditional, good value, service to more people. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved as a business in the last 10 years, thanks to the continued support and guidance of Nigel and company director Jackie Lymn Rose, as well as the cooperation of all the staff at A.W. Lymn and it is a great privilege to lead the company through this exciting period of expansion.”

A.W. Lymn, established in 1907, operates across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, providing a range of funeral services.
