Nottinghamshire firm expands with two new security divisions

Octavian Security, which has offices in Birmingham and Bingham, Nottinghamshire, has introduced two new divisions: Octavian Elite and Octavian Ex Police.
The new specialist branches are designed to provide tactical, high-level protection, drawing on the expertise of former British military personnel and ex-police officers to safeguard businesses, individuals and critical infrastructure.
Led by Kul Mahay, director and former Police Commander for Derbyshire Constabulary, the company leverages his experience as a Gold Commander in handling major policing incidents over the past 20 years.
As public law enforcement faces increasing crime rates and resource constraints, Octavian’s divisions hope to fill the growing gap between public and private security.
Kiran Ghuman, CEO of Octavian Security said: “We are stepping into a gap that can no longer be ignored. These divisions aren’t just about uniforms – they represent unmatched expertise, crisis readiness, and the discipline that comes from military and law enforcement backgrounds.”
The new divisions provide a wide range of services, including executive protection, high-risk corporate and residential security, surveillance, threat detection, emergency response teams, asset transport, and hostile environment operations.
Octavian Elite is staffed by former British Armed Forces members, including ex-Parachute Regiment soldiers, Royal Marines, RAF Regiment specialists, and Gurkhas.
Octavian Ex Police draws on experienced ex-UK police officers, many with backgrounds in firearms, public order and investigative roles.
These professionals will undergo training at the Octavian Elite Training Academy, focusing on behavioural detection, crisis response, covert surveillance, and cyber threat awareness.
The divisions will operate across various sectors, including executive and celebrity protection, luxury residential security, high-value retail & jewellery security, critical infrastructure, pharmaceutical manufacturing, corporate headquarters, financial institutions, high-risk events, football matches, and prison/court security services.
Mahay said: “This is not about replacing our valuable police services; we’re here to support them and provide the protection that’s often missing in the private sector. Our divisions offer highly trained professionals who can respond at a moment’s notice, with military-grade readiness and a solid understanding of the legal framework around security. We strongly believe in creating opportunities for former police officers and military personnel to continue to provide a service to others by using their valuable skills, honed over years of experience.”
Ghuman continued: “This is about offering former service personnel a meaningful second career. Their skills are essential in today’s complex security landscape. We’ve reached a point where expecting miracles from low-wage security guards is unrealistic. The need for trained, experienced professionals has never been greater. With rising crime rates and strained resources, private security must evolve to meet these challenges.”
