Trew reveals duo left in the hunt for Notts County deal

Ray Trew, the owner of Notts County, has taken to social media to reveal that there are two bidders left in the race to buy the club.

Trew used Twitter to announce that a UK hedge fund and a “large corporation from Asia” had both met his asking price – and that a deal would be completed “in days rather than weeks”.

Trew has insisted he is near to a deal and is selling to who he thinks will be best for the Club. He added on Twitter: “If i was selling to the highest bidder the deal would have been done already.”

He also said that he no longer attends Notts County games.

Trew’s latest missive is the latest twist in a drawn-out tale. It was back in February when he first put the Club up for sale in an open letter to supporters, announcing his decision to put the club up for sale.

Then, in March, Trew said he had agreed a deal “in principle” to sell the club to a US consortium.

Shortly after Trew sacked manager Jamie Fullarton and hired Mark Cooper until the end of the season. After a promising start, the Magpies have struggled again – their latest defeat coming in a 2-1 home reverse against Cambridge United that leaves them 17th in League 2 with 48 points – safe from relegation but with only 13 wins all season.
