As Foxes close in on title, which Leicester manufacturer is taking advantage?

A Leicester-based sock manufacturer has more than doubled its production of blue socks due to overwhelming demand from superstitious Leicester City supporters.

The phenomenon, which has seen sales of blue socks at Pantharella increase by 160 percent, is being attributed to the growing anticipation amongst fans as the Foxes close in on the Premier League title.

As many LCFC fans can’t wear their football kit on a normal work day, it seems that Leicester pride has taken an unusual turn and many are wearing locally made blue socks instead.

Some customers are even referring to the socks as “lucky” as Leicester City have gone from strength to strength since they purchased a pair.

Justin Hall, CEO of Pantherella, said: “Everybody here at the factory is rooting for Leicester; it’s such an exciting time for LCFC supporters. To know that other Foxes fans are showing their support on non match days by flashing their ankles in our blue socks is really exciting!”

The coincidences don’t stop there as the local company was founded in 1937, the same year Leicester City avoided relegation from the 2nd Division.

Hall added: “We’re a small family-run Leicester hosiery business with a history going back five generations; it feels great to know our founding relatives were experiencing the same excitement as we are today.”
