We asked Mary Maguire, managing director of Nottingham- and Derby-based Astute Recruitment how she likes to unwind at the weekend.
How do you relax at the weekend?
After a very busy week in the office its great to spend the weekend with the kids.. Saturdays I take them swimming and then we head off for a bit to eat! Saturday evening is film night after the kids are in bed, with our favourite takeaway and a DVD (sci-fi or thrillers usually)
Sundays weather permitting are spent at one of the many local parks around Derby – usually Markeaton Park or Elvaston Castle Country Park… the kids take their bikes and I’m usually to be found carrying a picnic and various balls, games and stuff! If the weather isn’t so great Sunday afternoons are great for baking cakes More mess the better as far as the kids go.
What’s your favourite…
Holiday destination: Holiday destinations are usually on the coast. I love Dorset and the Jurassic coast area. Last year we rented a cottage in Lyme Regis – a great mix of traditional sea side but also lots for the kids to explore with fossils and theme parks close by. Next year we are hoping to go to Cyprus as my mum is Greek Cypriot and we have lots of family to visit and stay with in the mountains there and by the coast.
Album: That’s a hard one as it depends on the mood I’m in. I like everything from classical to indie to rock and pop. If I were to choose, I’m torn between two: INXS’s Kick and Oasis’s Definitely Maybe – their first and arguably best collection of songs.
Food: Very, very hard one to call but Italian just about wins out. You can’t beat a great Pizza or linguine with Salmon!
TV programme: I was a real fan of Cold Feet the first time round so I’m an avid fan its back on our screens again!
How do you spend Sunday evenings?
Sunday evenings are best for relaxing and playing games with the kids but also catching up on reading the news. Its also a great time to prepare and plan for the week ahead and think about any useful content ideas for the company webpages I manage. Some of the most creative ideas come when I’m more relaxed at the end of the weekend. Later on Sunday nights are brilliant for catching up on box sets or recordings of favourite TV series missed during the week.
