Ruddington firm set to expand HQ

Nottingham-based construction firm Stepnell has been awarded a £3.8m design-and-build contract to deliver the second phase of scheme at talent management, payroll and business analytics provider MHR’s base in Mere Way, Ruddington, near Nottingham.

The Stepnell team recently began work on the 44-week construction programme which will create a new two-storey, 9,397 sq ft office building for MHR, a significant employer in the Nottingham area.

The project forms part of a major expansion scheme set to create a new Innovation Centre for the company. Stepnell is already working on the first phase of the expansion programme, extending and refurbishing MHR’s Britannia House building at the Ruddington site.

The master plan for the expansion programme was designed by architects Simon Gee Designs with Moss Architecture completing the design. Nottingham-based Gleeds Management Services are the employer’s agent for the scheme

MHR chairman John Mills said: “Our ongoing expansion project will see us treble our footprint in Nottingham and we are pleased to be working with Stepnell on this once again. We currently invest 17 per cent of our turnover into research and development and need a bigger working environment to give us the potential to expand as a company.”

Stepnell operations and commercial manager Thomas Sewell said: “We are delighted to be continuing our working relationship with MHR through our selection to build the second phase of the company’s development programme. The project will create smart and attractive office space for MHR’s expanding workforce.”
