Former Lincoln bakery boss banned for six years

The owner of a former Lincoln firm which sold bakery products has been disqualified as a director for six years after employing illegal immigrants.

Sasi Kandasamy owns SPK Retail, which changed its address from Lincoln to Wakefield last month (September).

In a statement, the Insolvency Service said: “Mr Kandasamy failed to ensure that SPK Retail Ltd complied with its statutory obligations under The Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 to ensure that relevant immigration checks were completed and copy documents retained, resulting in the employment of two illegal workers.

“Following a visit from Home Office Immigration Officers on 3 September 2015, during which this breach was discovered, SPK Retail Ltd was issued with a penalty notice in the sum of £20,000, which remains unpaid. Mr Kandasamy was an appointed director of the company, and was in office at the time of the Home Office visit.”
