Traffic alert: A46 closed in Nottinghamshire

Commuters in Nottinghamshire are set for delays and diversions this morning after the A46 remains closed in both diections following a collision last night.

The A46 is closed in both directions between the junctions of the A617 near Newark and the B6166 near Farndon while the emergency services deal with a serious incident.

Highways England is reporting that a diversion is in place. Southbound motorists on the A46 approaching Newark should leave the A46 early, before reaching the road closure, by joining the A1 southbound towards Grantham. Near the village of Barrowby, join the A52 westbound towards Bingham, to then re-join the A46 near the village of Saxondale.

If you’re travelling north, reverse this journey.

Highways England says the road will remain closed through the morning rush.
