YourNews: Cleggs solicitor raises more than £1,000 for children’s charity

A NOTTS lawyer from Cleggs Solicitors has handed over a cheque for more than £1,000 after raising money for children’s charity, PASIC.

Phil Pheasey, senior associate at Nottingham-based Cleggs Solicitors, challenged himself to go from ‘couch to £10k’ and take part in the Stilton Stumble – a race which navigates through the Stilton cheese-making villages of Cropwell Bishop, Colston Bassett and Long Clawson.

Phil chose to support PASIC which provides practical, financial and social support to children and young people living with cancer, their families and carers.  PASIC was originally established as The Parents’ Association for Seriously Ill Children and is based at Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

“When I was considering which charity to support I couldn’t think of anything worse than children having to cope with cancer and what their families must be going through, so I decided to raise the money for PASIC,” Phil said.

“For the run itself, I wanted to do more training but only ended up doing three weeks so it was a challenge.  Of course, it was more than worth it to contribute to the funds being raised by PASIC and I’d like to thank all those who sponsored and supported me,” Phil added.

Louise Whittle, operations and fundraising manager for PASIC, said: “Phil’s fundraising has been amazing.  As a charity, we provide fun activities for children with cancer to distract them from long stays in hospital, including trips to the cinema and activities such as drop in art workshops on the ward.  This is in addition to the practical, emotional and financial support we provide for all the family.

“The amount which Phil has raised is massive to us whereas for larger charities it may not make such a difference,” Louise added.

The total amount raised was £1,005 thanks to support from sponsors Cloud Telematics LLP, Greenfeeds Limited, Restart BTI and Cleggs Solicitors, with further funds raised by employees at Cleggs.

Cleggs Solicitors is based in Wilford, Nottingham and specialises in providing legal services to commercial and private clients in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, the East Midlands and beyond.
