Record results for specialist law firm

Peter Hubbard, Anthony Collins Solicitors

Birmingham-based Anthony Collins Solicitors has reported the best annual performance in its 44-year history, with strong growth in both revenue and profits for the financial year 2016/17.

Total revenues increased 6.8% from £15.6m to £16.6m, while profits have risen by 16% to £4m.

The firm, known for its ethical approach to business, employs more than 260 people at its Birmingham headquarters.

The performance has been buoyed by an increase in demand across the firm’s key sectors of health and social care, local government, housing, charities, education, social business and private clients – often involving the delivery of specialist and high-profile work.

Commenting on the firm’s performance, Senior Partner, Peter Hubbard said: “These results reflect our growing position as a leading social-purpose law firm in the UK. We have benefitted from strong growth across our key sectors including housing, local government, and health and social care, along with expanding our private client practice.

“Our clients are clear in expressing a desire for a law firm that can deliver specialist legal expertise, underpinned by strong values. The firm’s success is testament to the commitment of its people, and we’re optimistic that we can continue to deliver on the firm’s growth strategy moving forwards while also supporting its mission-led approach.”

The firm has benefited from two new sector-lead appointments and a series of promotion.

Shivaji Shiva has been appointed sector lead for charities, while Jas Tamber has been appointed lead for the private client sector alongside his role as head of children’s’ services.

David Alcock, previously sector lead for both charities and social business, will now focus primarily on his work with values-led organisations, continuing as sector lead for the social business sector which includes cooperatives and mutuals.
