Winding-up order sees ‘Cultural Quarter’ land back on market

Avison Young has been appointed by ESRG to find a purchaser for a proposed residential scheme with the potential to bring 130 new homes to Digbeth.

The 0.82 acre site on 250 Bradford Street has obtained planning permission for a freehold residential development opportunity through DPP Planning acting on behalf of ESRG. However, ESRG successfully filed a winding-up order on DPP One Limited on 20 May.

Now the land is being marketed by Avison Young’s Land and Development team, which provides a number of services including advice on land sales and acquisition, viability modelling and testing and negotiations with planning authorities and developers.

The plans for the development include buildings ranging between four and eight storeys tall with plans also in place to create 40 parking spaces for the development.

“This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a site which already benefits from planning permission in a thriving and immensely popular location within Birmingham,” said Mark Birks, Avison Young.

“The location of the site is a real draw for potential residents thanks to its proximity to high-quality amenities such as the Bullring, the Custard Factory and New Street Station, which are all within easy walking distance. The proposed HS2 Hub and the city’s metro extension will also provide even better connections into the city centre and beyond for future residents”

Digbeth has been dubbed the city’s ‘Creative Quarter’ as it has attracted a number of start-ups, galleries, pubs and restaurants over the past decade that sit along more established businesses in what was an industrial heartland.

The area has seen wide-scale redevelopment in recent years after being earmarked as one of the city’s regeneration focuses in the city council’s Big City Plan and there are several major regeneration and residential projects underway.

Its central location and access to city centre amenities have turned it into one of the most sought-after areas for prospective buyers in the city.
