Construction firm set to close Birmingham office

Construction firm Bouygues is set to shut its Birmingham office due to a lack of work.

Reports in trade publication Construction Enquirer says the firm will close the office, along with one in Manchester, before Christmas, with 20 redundancies being made.

Bouyges will service the West Midlands and north west from its Bristol and London offices.

A spokesperson for Bouygues UK said: “Owing to a challenging market in the North and Midlands, we have decided to merge the Manchester and Birmingham operations of Bouygues UK with our offices in the South West and Wales.

“This will happen over time and existing projects in the Midlands and North West will continue unaffected through to completion.

“We are consulting with staff affected and will look to redeploy them to other roles where possible.”

The company said that other Bouyges companies operating in the West Midlands area are unaffected by the decision.
