Consultancy firm expands into Birmingham

David Mellor

Consultancy firm Whitecap Consulting has opened its sixth UK office in Birmingham, in Alpha Tower.

The firm has also appointed David Mellor as associate director for the Midlands.

Headquartered in Leeds, Whitecap expanded its regional presence by opening offices in Manchester and Milton Keynes in 2017, and Newcastle and Bristol offices were added last year.

Whitecap is already working in the region, including with Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership to conduct an analysis of the FinTech ecosystem in the West Midlands. It also counts Dudley Building Society amongst its clients.

Richard Coates, managing director of Whitecap Consulting, said: “We are very pleased to have opened a Birmingham office, and I’m delighted that David is helping drive our regional expansion in the Midlands. David’s background, skills, experience and attitude all complement the team very well. He has immediately engaged with regional stakeholders on a range of engagements across our practice areas.

“To complement this, we are also adding a new sector based on David’s experience in logistics; a sector, which like many others, has and is experiencing considerable change and disruption.”

David Mellor, associate director at Whitecap Consulting said: “I’m proud to have joined Whitecap and I hope our launch in the Midlands can contribute to the optimistic mood of the region, recently encapsulated by Birmingham Tech Week, and the many positive changes going on in the area.

“I have been struck by the energy, openness and determination of the region’s stakeholders and am looking forward to bringing a new specialism to the Whitecap team in logistics, a dynamic and critical driver of both the regional and national economy.”

Jeremy Wood, CEO, Dudley Building Society added: “Dudley Building Society engaged Whitecap in late 2018 to help us define and articulate our strategy. A short timescale for completion was set and met. Further work has been agreed since and we now count Whitecap among our key advisors. As an important and developing region for financial services, we’re delighted that Whitecap has chosen Birmingham for its new location.”
