Plans to transform disused car park and derelict buildings recommended for approval

Elevate Property Group is hoping for the final green light on its planning application for a development of 17 homes and three commercial units in Great Malvern.

Planning officers are recommending approval for the Edith Walk development, currently a disused private car park and derelict buildings adjoining Waitrose and the rear of the Foley Arms on the Worcester Road.

The application will be reported to committee on 30 June.

Elevate’s MD Steve Dodd said: “We have worked hard over a period of several years to perfect our proposal to bring this partially derelict and disused part of Malvern back to life and redevelop this pocket of land between the High Street and Waitrose.

“Our planning consultant from Ridge has worked very closely with the planning team at Malvern Hills District Council to work around some of the key constraints associated with the site to produce a high-quality scheme that regenerates a key area of the town providing a significant enhancement to the Malvern Conservation Area.”

He added: “The new Edith Walk development will bring commercial activity to the street frontage, with three retail units, while creating desirable, quality homes in a central location that will regenerate this key brownfield site in the most viable way.”
