Bathroom retailer moves to 175,000 sq ft facility

Bathroom Mountain has moved into its 175,000sq ft warehouse in Tunstall.

The online bathroom retailer has relocated just down the road from its current site in Stoke-on-Trent. Clowes Developments agreed a deal to build the storage and distribution facility on its land off Canal Lane.

The building is nearly double the size of its existing premises located off Brownhills Road.

Over the years businessman Mo Iqbal and his family have developed a strong working relationship with Clowes Developments and have purchased the larger buildings off Brownhills Road as warehouse, distribution and showroom facilities for their businesses, Tile Mountain and subsequently, Bathroom Mountain. The latest investment marks further expansion and growth for the family run businesses. Bathroom Mountain, a sister company to Tile Mountain, set up and run by Mo’s daughter, Shamila, will relocate its entire business to the new 175,000 sq ft building, whilst the former unit will be used for additional storage to benefit both businesses.

Shamila Iqbal, director at Bathroom Mountain, said: “Bathroom Mountain has witnessed sustained growth since we launched the business back in 2021. As a result, we are investing heavily in a fully automated warehouse with floor to ceiling racking which will enable further expansion. Tunstall is where our story began, and the majority of our dedicated workforce are based here. We are delighted to have a brand-new facility just a stone’s throw away from our existing premises allowing us to continue to enhance the local area with employment opportunities.”

Marc Freeman, director at Clowes Developments, said: “The construction of the new 18-meter-high Bathroom Mountain warehouse off Canal Lane completes the redevelopment of the land holding owned by Clowes Developments around Brownhills Road. It’s been a long journey from start to finish developing over 500,000sq ft of quality commercial warehouses in Tunstall but with thanks to our expert construction contractors and our experienced team at Roe Developments, we have now delivered the final building. We wish Shamila and Mo continued growth and success with the Tile & Bathroom Mountain enterprise.”
