A specialist engineering firm, involved in a major Hong Kong land reclamation project, has set up its new headquarters in Redditch.

Neom Engineering’s new base on the Crossgate Road Industrial Estate, Redditch has been secured by commercial property agents John Truslove. The firm has a close working relationship with Treble R Fabrications, which makes water control devices such as composite stoplogs, penstocks and flap valves and therefore established a new site nearby.

As well as working on building and rail projects nationwide, Neom’s composite stoplogs – hydraulic engineering devices used in floodgates to control water levels – were used in Hong Kong as part of a £1.2bn project to reclaim 130 hectares of land, creating space for 49,500 new homes, as well as offices and shops in the community of in Tung Chung East.

Ben Truslove, joint managing director at John Truslove, worked with the Neom team to secure a five-year lease on 6,051 sq ft of space at Unit 29 Crossgate Road, for £40,000 per annum.

Neom director Mustafa Ali said: “The choice of this property is due to the partnership we have developed with Treble R Fabrications in the manufacture of composite stoplogs, penstocks and flap valves.

“Ben Truslove acted quickly in supporting us with our needs in achieving our deadlines. A property was identified, and the lease was agreed within a matter of four weeks. This allowed us to meet our customer deadlines and build a long-standing relationship”.

Ben Truslove added: “The close working partnership between Neom and Treble R, which dates back to 1989, was critical to these businesses. The premises at Unit 29 Crossgate Road were ideal for Neom, both in terms of geography and the building itself. It provides both a spacious warehouse area and two storeys of offices at the front”.

Law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP in London acted for the landlord, while Neom Engineering were advised by BKP Solicitors in Bradford.
