Shed tipped for approval to replace fire-destroyed unit

A 55,500 sq ft shed is set to be approved by Birmingham City Council, to replace a fire damaged building on the Tyseley Industrial Estate.
The previous 34,000 sq ft building was destroyed by a fire in 2020 and is now derelict.
Plans would see the Kalsi Group create 75 jobs to add to its 400 employees across the UK, of which 250 of those are already based in Birmingham.
The manufacturer and supplier of plastic building products the Kalsi Group already has 20 retail units across the country and has its main manufacturing base in Spark Hill. It will relocate the base to the Tyseley facility, and will use it to reduce pressure in some of their other older premises located in Spark Hill.
Birmingham City Council’s planning officer has recommended the scheme to be approved at the council meeting tomorrow (January 11).
