Manufacturer on a roll with £30m HQ expansion project

A £30m redevelopment project has launched in Wolverhampton to expand operations for paper manufacturer Task Consumer Products.

Led by commercial property developer Stoford, the 210,000 sq ft project, which spans an 18-acre site, is located at Citygate Park on Stafford Road.

The new headquarters will provide purpose-built warehousing and distribution space to support existing and expanded production lines, creating up to 50 new jobs upon completion.

It includes an 83,500 sq ft extension to Task’s existing facility and a new 125,000 sq ft unit, both designed to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards

Stoford has appointed Benniman as the main contractor.

Work is already underway to remediate the brownfield site and clear a vacant building. The project is set to finish in August 2025.

Nikul Patel, director at Task, said: “We are very pleased to see that the main build works are progressing well. This development is central to our company’s growth and expansion plans and will deliver the additional space we need to increase production and streamline our operations. It’s an exciting chapter and we look forward to seeing our vision come to life.”

Dan Gallagher, joint managing director of Stoford, said: “It’s exciting to see the start of construction work on site. This is a multi-phased project, on land historically used for landfill, so we’ve had to carry out extensive remediation and demolition works in readiness for the new development.

“Task’s commitment to investing in the site is positive news for the city of Wolverhampton, securing its future in the region and creating employment opportunities for local people. The development also reinforces Stoford’s commitment to Wolverhampton and the wider Staffordshire county too.”

Councillor Chris Burden, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills, said: “This expansion by Task shows a huge commitment to Wolverhampton and is characteristic of the investment being made in our city.

“It also ties in with our brownfield-first policy by bringing disused land back into use – helping boost our drive for a sustainable economy. Most importantly, it will both safeguard jobs and create new jobs for local people.”
