Sanguine Hospitality appoints new chief executive

HOTELS management and development company Sanguine Hospitality has appointed Robin Wicks as its new chief executive officer.

The company described Wicks’ recruitment has a “major coup for the firm”.

He previously spent 16 years working for Intercontinental Hotels Group, whose Hotel Indigo brand forms an important part of Sanguine’s rollout, including in The Cube, Birmingham.

The Liverpool-based firm, whose projects in Birmingham also comprise the new Hampton-by-Hilton on Broad Street and Kennedy Tower conversion into a Holiday Inn Express, plans to launch six new venues within the next 12 months.

Chairman Simon Matthews-Williams, who co-owns Sanguine Hospitality with property developer Paul Bolton, said: “Robin brings with him an unparalleled level of experience gained in senior roles across the hospitality industry.

“His insight has proven invaluable during his time as a non-executive director and we’re thrilled that we will now have such an excellent asset at our disposal full time.”

Sanguine opened its first Hotel Indigo in Liverpool earlier this year, while projects in Birmingham and Newcastle are due to be completed in the coming months.

Mr Matthews-Williams added: “Our growth strategy is defined along a number of clear development lines, many of which involve IHG branded properties. There is a clear synergy between Robin’s experience and our objectives.

“He knows the hotel industry from top to bottom and can inform our decisions on everything from the choice of bathroom taps to identifying development sites.

“There really isn’t a stronger candidate to help Sanguine deliver on its potential.”
