Another long-term tenant announced for logistics hub

Transport company Maritime Group has agreed a deal to take a four acre site at iPort, Verdion’s logistics hub in Doncaster.

The transport operator has agreed a long-term lease on the site which will be developed by Verdion into a modern HGV parking facility and will include a 4,000 sq ft high quality office and amenity building. Maritime will use the facility to serve existing clients at iPort as well as others in the region.

The business is also an active user of iPort’s on-site rail terminal, iPort Rail, a Grade A cargo facility operated by Verdion, which is now running daily rail services to and from Southampton, Felixstowe and Teesport serving a number of iPort occupiers as well as other regional, national and global businesses.

Simon Smart, Chief Executive Officer at Maritime, said: “As part of our ongoing network development it was an easy decision to select iPort as the next location, with the added benefit of the rail connections then the move aligns perfectly with our Intermodal strategy.”

John Clements, European Development Director at Verdion, said: “Maritime is a very welcome addition to iPort. Our location and multimodal connections are a great advantage to logistics businesses and we do as much as we can to accommodate occupiers’ requirements for space and support their operations.”

Verdion has recently launched phase two of its iPort scheme, signing up a major online retailer for a 731,000 sq ft unit expected to complete in the second quarter of 2020, as well as leasing building iP2c to regional print production specialist Kingsbury Press.

Two further speculative units are currently available, with three-phase power, 55m deep yards and mains services all connected. The buildings are the 195,000 sq ft iP2e unit and iP2g which has a capacity of 119,060 sq ft.

Gent Visick, CBRE and Colliers International are letting agents for iPort.
