Hunt is on for tenant to take over popular football fan venue

The Railway Hotel, a pub located on Bramall Lane and a favourite of Sheffield United fans, is set to open up again under new management despite reports of its closure.

On 1 July 2020, just days away from the anticipated resumption of the hospitality industry in England, The Railway Hotel’s previous tenants Jack and Andrew Carter gave notice that they would be leaving the business with immediate effect.

This led some to believe that Coronavirus had caused the end of this pub.

However, the current tenants’ departure does not spell the end for the venue. It is set to reopen, with a search now on for a new tenant to take over its management.

Martin Nicholson, director of Nicholson & Co, the agent instructed to search for another tenant, said: “The Railway was closed due to lockdown and the tenant chose to leave the property just before the property could have reopened.

“It will open again, but to be fully successful and due to its prime location opposite SUFC, spectators will need to be allowed to home games which has a natural and hugely beneficial effect on trade in the Bramall lane and London road area.

“We do expect the property to open again with a new energetic tenant very soon.”
