Property People: Taylor Wimpey; Scarborough Group International; Eddisons; and more

Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire’s Whitacres development in Hambleton has welcomed a new assistant sales manager on board for 2021.
Overseeing sales executives on the development, Hull-native David Warren joins the team having worked for Taylor Wimpey for three and a half years in a previous role at the region’s flagship Harrogate development, Harlow Green.
Making the step up to assistant sales manager, Warren brings a wealth of experience and is relishing the challenge of managing a number of developments across North Yorkshire, including Whitacres, Bondgate and Harlow Green.
He said: “The variety from day-to-day is something that drew me to the role.
“One day I’m in a suit in a stunning show home or sales centre, the next I’m in a hard hat and high-viz jacket in a field looking at a new piece of land we’ve purchased, or on a Teams call with directors discussing our developments.
“Lockdown, although a challenge, brought some real positive changes, especially to a techy person like me.
“I was thrilled to see how well and quickly everyone adapted to new ways of working, using technology to still serve our customers and ensuring customers could continue their purchasing journey virtually with sales executives first, followed by socially distanced appointments in line with Government guidelines.
“Let’s hope we can soon resume our regular way of working, but until then I’m pleased to say starting the new role during the pandemic has not felt too unfamiliar and I’m excited about the year ahead.”

SGI is one of the most active developers in the North, with over three million sq ft of commercial/mixed-use space under development over 524 acres of land.
McCabe added: “The scale of our development activities across the key northern cities of Sheffield, Manchester and Leeds is unparalleled, and reflects our commitment and ambition to the Northern Powerhouse.

Property consultant Eddisons has appointed Richard Prior as a director within its growing building and project consultancy team.
Joining Eddisons after seven years with Lambert Smith Hampton’s Leeds office, where he was a director in the building consultancy team, Prior will be responsible for professional services activity within Eddisons’ building and project consultancy team.
Ian Harrington, who heads the firm’s 35-strong building and project consultancy division, said: “The work we do within the team has grown exponentially in recent years, especially as we have built up our education sector expertise to become the go-to provider of support for academy trusts on applications for improvement projects via the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).
“We doubled our successful CIF bids last year to £50m nationally, up from £20m in 2019 and we’re tremendously proud of that track record.
“We’re excited to have Richard joining us to lead the team who work with Eddisons’ corporate clients.
“The pandemic has shifted the landscape of the workplace with social distancing measures and increased working from home and we are making it a priority to help our clients navigate these uncertain times with continued advice and support on maximising the value of their property, whether they are owners, occupiers or developers.”
Prior said: “It’s fantastic to be joining Eddisons at an exciting time in the firm’s rapid growth and development.
“The skills I gained in my role with Lambert Smith Hampton will be invaluable in helping me advise businesses right across the spectrum, whether on their offices, retail premises, industrial or manufacturing sites, or leisure and entertainment venues.”

Ripon-headquartered Potter Space – which owns, develops, and operates five business parks across the UK – has appointed John Royle as construction manager.
He will oversee the expansion across the company’s 250-acre estate.
Royle has spent his entire career within civil engineering and groundworks, initially within his family’s firm, before setting up his own business.
He then went on to join Scunthorpe-based construction company Britcon, prior to moving to Lindum Group.
In his new role he will work alongside head of commercial delivery, Jenna Strover, and be responsible for all elements of construction, from design through to practical completion.
This will include appointing the contractors and overseeing on-site works to ensure the building is delivered on time, within budget and to the quality expected.
Royle said: “There is no better way to get to know about the ethos of a company than to work with them.
“Therefore, while constructing Unit 52, I quickly appreciated that Potter Space is a company that is serious about building sustainable and environmentally efficient industrial units.
“It has also adopted best practice across all areas, from dealing with customers, suppliers, and its own team, through to delivering top-quality buildings and well-presented business parks.”
Managing director, Jason Rockett, said: “We were impressed with the way John handled the construction of Unit 52 and delivered a top-quality building to us.
“Although it was built speculatively, it attracted a great deal of interest, helped by its eco-friendly features and quality finish.
“It was quickly let to tile importer European Heritage, which was relocating its warehouse from London to Ripon in order to be better placed to distribute its products to the whole of the UK.
“We have some exciting expansion plans for the business parks over the next few years and John is an excellent addition to the team which will ensure they are delivered.”
