Consultancy boosts its capacity with move to larger offices

Engineering, management and development consultancy, Mott MacDonald, has moved into a new property in Leeds city centre, having doubled staff numbers to 300 over recent years.

It has established a base on the top floor of refurbished premises on Whitehall Road, between the Temple Quarter development and Wellington Place, increasing its capacity by 50%.

The company operates across the built environment and in the health, education, local government, sports, transport, water and environment sectors.

Since first setting up an office in Leeds in 2004, the business has helped deliver distinctive projects in the city including the First Direct Arena, Leeds Station Southern Entrance, the University Technical College and the David Oluwale Bridge.

Lisa Littlefair, Leeds office lead for Mott MacDonald and newly appointed chair of the Chamber of Commerce’s Property and Economic Forum said: “Having worked in Leeds for the most part of my career, I’ve seen first-hand the impact Mott MacDonald’s work in the city has had on people, communities and businesses.

“I’m proud to see us continue to grow and invest here, enabling us to further deliver on our purpose, support clients, and provide more opportunities for our colleagues to grow and develop.”

Tom Riordan, chief executive of Leeds City Council, said: “It’s a great time to be in Leeds, with Mott MacDonald playing an important role in what we regard as ‘Team Leeds’.

“The company’s work with us on essential projects such as the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme, the David Oluwale Bridge and the Morley Town Deal has helped strengthen our reputation as a very ambitious and vibrant global city.

“Mott MacDonald’s commitment to making a positive difference to local life was also highlighted by its sponsorship support for the Youth Pavilion at this year’s UKREiiF real estate conference here in Leeds, bringing a broader, more diverse set of voices into the important place debate.”

Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, added: “We’ve worked so closely with Mott MacDonald over the years supporting growth and a culture of inclusion.

“They have worked with our schools across the region, bringing in enterprise advisers to help deliver a gold standard in careers guidance and have supported local graduates on their fantastic graduate programme.

“I for one, can’t wait to continue to grow our excellent relationship.”
