Continued growth for STG

STRATEGIC Team Group, the Yorkshire property contractor, has come through the recession to post increased annual sales and is on the look out for acquisitions.

The UK’s fastest growing suppliers of building property services boosted turnover by 5.7% to £36.52m for the year ended March 31, and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 6.1%.

The firm, which has offices in Castleford, Stockport and Glasgow, completed more than 12,000 work orders over the year and said it was successful nationally in the public and transport sectors.

Andy Watson, Strategic Team Group’s managing director, said: “We have continued to out-perform many of our competitors, delivering innovative solutions both in financial management and high standards of service excellence.

“At the same time we have worked with our clients to find new ways to deliver our services more efficiently, yet still maintaining a high quality product.

“As a result, Strategic Team Group is better placed than ever to win market share and to work with our clients to develop opportunities in our targeted growth markets across the UK.

“We remain committed to building on the successes generated over the last decade through acquisitions and we are already actively looking for opportunities in the North West, North East, Yorkshire and Scotland. These acquisitions will help us achieve our target of £100m turnover over the next two years, whilst maintaining profit margins.”

The firm’s secured order book is very healthy, standing at £31m, which represents 73% of budgeted turnover for 2010/11.

The group said it enjoyed growth in the North West, thanks to the opening of its Stockport office.

Projects in the rail sector have included work at Accrington station, the UK’s first Cyclepoint at Leeds station plus numerous station refurbishment works.

The firm also secured public sector frameworks with YORbuild, North Yorkshire County Council and Kirklees Council.

A new funding model was engineered and introduced to enable Registered Social Landlords to recommence stalled building schemes.

More than £20,000 was donated to the firm’s corporate charity, the Prince of Wales Hospice, thanks to the efforts of staff and clients who participated in the Belgium to Berlin cycle challenge.

Strategic Team Group was set up by operations director, Gary Taylor, business development director, Charles Tweed and managing director, Andy Watson in 2000.

The firm specialises in social and affordable housing, transport, government, care homes and health facilities, commercial office fit-outs and residential schemes.
