Legal software firm creates R&D centre of excellence in Leeds

LEGAL software provider LexisNexis Enterprise Solutions has taken on 50 staff this year as it creates an R&D centre of excellence in Leeds.
It now employs 120 people in the city and has moved from Headingley into new premises at City West Business Park, investing “hundreds of thousand of pounds”. The company is seeking to copy the success of its US development centre located on campus at North Carolina State University.
The Software Centre of Excellence will lead on product development for LexisOne, the company’s enterprise resource planning solution for law firms, and Lexis Visualfiles, its legal workflow and case management system.
Andy Sparkes, general manager at LexisNexis Enterprise Solutions, said: “This new Leeds facility is a key strategic investment, designed to help us achieve our ambitious business growth targets.
“We have a clear vision for the development of our integrated product portfolio, and this is an important step in our ongoing evolution.”
David Espley joined the company as its UK technology director in September from Advanced Legal to oversee the centre and drive its IT strategy.
