Two-year-old construction group builds on £21m foundations

CONSTRUCTION group Torsion has seen revenues soar to £21m in its second year in business.
The company said a solid pipeline of accommodation schemes in the North and Midlands was behind the growth.
Managing director Dan Spencer formed the group in early 2015. It collected nine projects in its first year and now employs 24 people across its Birstall headquarters and Midlands office.
A third office for Manchester has been planned for this year.
Torsion has delivered a £6.6m scheme in Birmingham and another £6m, 140-bed student accommodation site in Newcastle, both for Crosslane Developments.
Managing director Dan Spencer said: “Importantly we’ve gone back to basics and look to employ the best people in the industry and allow them to do their job. We are a vibrant young company that has demonstrated our ability to deliver high value and difficult schemes in the first 12 months of operation.
“We’re working with clients who value our ability to cost plan schemes at an early stage then deliver on this promise in a volatile market.
“This has been a year of solid progress for the business, and we are excited at the prospects for further growth in new sectors and geographic areas,” he finished.
