Derby gets in Christmas spirit with Living Advent Calendar

Businesses in Derby Cathedral Quarter will be taking part in the first Living Advent Calendar event this month with 24 free events set to take place in the run up to Christmas.
The Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District has organised a different activity or event for each day up until Christmas Eve, varying from wreath making workshops and Christmas carols to gaming days and eyebrow shaping.
Visitors will also be able to get stuck in to a family trail day at the Silk Mill Museum, learn how to make fondue at Milk and Honey, take advantage of free snowball doughballs at Pizza Express and play along in the pub quiz at Ye Old Dolphin. A Star Wars demonstration, mini cocktail making classes and an open mic night are just a few of the other activities guests can get involved with.
Chairman of the Cathedral Quarter board and management group Martin Langsdale said: “We were keen to coordinate a wide range of special festive events that would appeal to everyone from young families to older people and provide a fantastic experience for all our visitors at this very special time of year.”
The Living Advent Calendar will be joining an already packed programme of events and entertainment across the Cathedral Quarter throughout the festive period.
Highlights include the Cathedral Quarter 3aaa ice rink in the Market Place, free street entertainment, the Market Hall Winter Wonderland and a wide variety of entertainment and activities at Derby Cathedral, Derby Museums, QUAD, Déda and the Guildhall Theatre.
The full festive programme for the Living Advent Calendar has been published in a leaflet which is available across the Cathedral Quarter as well as on the website.
