Nottingham mixed-use scheme gets green light

Plans for a mixed-use development that will include 23 student flats and a 10,000 sq ft retail space have been given the green light by Nottingham City Council.
Hyson Green Ltd, a Birmingham firm, will develop the three-storey Student Lodge building at 43a Gregory Boulevard in the Hyson Green area of the city.
The retail space will be a mixture of restaurants or cafes, shops and hot food takeaways.
A statement with the planning application said: “The proposals as a whole support the local economy and compliment the mix of users and businesses in the locality, improving the vitality of the district centre.”
The site, which is currently derelict, was previously home to Hyson Green Police Station. It has a long planning history going back to 2011. Plans for a retail store were approved in 2012, but it wasn’t built in time and lapsed last year.
