How does an architectural technologist wind down at the weekend? We asked Liam Gladwin of LK2 Architects…

How do you relax at the weekend?
During my weekends, I try to completely switch off from work. A typical weekend for me will involve going out for a meal and drinks with my girlfriend and friends. I am also mad on football, and will usually go and watch my beloved Leeds United – although this is normally more stressful then relaxing -and also play for my local team on a Sunday morning. When not playing, or watching football, my time would be spent with my girlfriend, going away on city breaks, enjoying country walks or relaxing in a nice pub with a local craft ale.

How many hours do you work at the weekend on average?
As mentioned before, I try to totally switch off from work at weekends, but during busy periods this sometimes proves to be difficult and may spend a couple of hours on Saturday morning catching up on emails and outstanding actions.

What’s your favourite:
– holiday destination? I am an avid snowboarder, and I love traveling to new destinations in the alps for some winter fun.
– book? I am not huge reader, but when I do read am normally drawn to crime thrillers and during my last holiday I read the Axeman’s Jazz.
– album? As I was growing up, The Arctic Monkeys were rising to fame and a personal favourite album from my youth would have to be ‘Whatever People Say I am, That’s What I’m Not’.
– TV programme? I don’t watch loads of TV programmes but do love the new Sherlock series.
– website or app? The most used app on my phone would have to be Twitter, staying up to date with the news and football in real time.

How do you usually spend Sunday evenings?
A typical Sunday evening would be firstly spent with my family, enjoying mum’s cooking. I will then retreat home to spend the rest of the evening chilling on the sofa with my girlfriend, enjoying glass of wine and preparing for the Monday madness.
