Park life! Wren donates £190,000

Four parks in various areas of Nottingham are sharing a £190,000 grant to improve their facilities.
Non-profit business Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN) – which has given over £2m to local parks in the last decade – awarded the grant to help build a café, two play areas and improve the landscape for the community.
Nottingham City Council Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture Councillor Dave Trimble said: “The financial support we have received from WREN over the past ten years has helped us improve a huge number of parks for the benefit of people across the city.
“It is thanks to valuable partnerships such as this that Nottingham parks continue to be amongst the best in the country, as acknowledged through our record number of Green Flag awards.”
Wollaton Park was awarded £50,000 towards their planned £100,000 refurbishment of the old football pavilion into a café and community space.
Green’s Mill Park in Sneinton received a £50,000 share of WREN’s donation which it will use for general refurbishment ahead of its bid for a Green Flag award next year.
Clifton Central Park, which is also known as Flower Park was given £50,000 towards a new play area. The remaining £40,000 will also be going towards a play area, however for toddlers and based at The Green play area near Bosworth Walk in The Meadows.
