Notts country house begins £750,000 facelift

Cockliffe Country House Hotel in Nottinghamshire has broken ground on its £750,000 planned refurbishment.

The investment scheme will upgrade the 11-bedroom 17th century former farmhouse in Burntstump Country Park, owned by independent hotel group Heritage Estates.

Included in the refurbishment programme is a new 2,400 sq ft permanent multi-purpose space which can seat up to 80 guests, and is expected to be completed in May this year.

“We’re really excited to have started work on the new refurbishment and will spend the next few months getting Cockliffe Country House Hotel ready for the busy summer wedding season,” explained director Jon-Paul Davies.

“Expanding and upgrading our offering will rubber stamp Cockliffe on the wedding venue map, by providing a premium offering able to host larger ceremonies.

“The space will be perfect for couples tying the knot, with its very comfortable ‘country lodge’ inspired surroundings, but also make a great place to visit and soak up some local history.”

Other planned renovations include a full refit of the main house, the venue’s bedrooms, restaurant, wedding and conference facilities, a new bridal suite created and a secondary kitchen installed.

Davies added: “The green-lighted plans are careful to respect and adhere to the building’s history and character and rich heritage. We can’t wait to restore this stunning building into something everyone in the local community can be proud of.”

Barnard Construction from Besthorpe, Newark, was chosen as the lead contractor for the refurbishments.
