On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Chartered accountant Duncan & Toplis has added to its team in Sleaford with the appointment of manager John Raynor.

Having worked in accountancy since 2003 after a change from a career in manufacturing, Raynor brings experience in improving systems and procedures as well as reducing tax liability for clients.

In his previous role John worked on audits in large companies with a turnover in excess of £60m, in addition to specialising in auditing academies, charities and pension schemes. He is also familiar with sourcing and planning finance and reducing annual compliance stresses for businesses.

Raynor said: “My career to date has taken me through differing levels of general practice from small tax returns to large specialised audit assignments. My role with Duncan & Toplis is focused on helping a portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders and small businesses through to audits and pure taxation clients.

“Accountancy is my life’s vocation and I love learning about a wide range of businesses. This is a great opportunity for me to establish long term relationships with businesses who will benefit from my experience and the attention I can give them. To best help a client, you really need to know their business.”

Tallents Solicitors has appointed Ross Pierrepont to the commercial department in its Newark office.

He will working with and supporting Jeremy Blatherwick, Alistair Millar and Stephanie Whitchurch, specialising in commercial and civil litigation.

Senior litigator, Whitchurch said: “Our commercial clients will be particularly interested to hear that Ross is also able to provide advice on the best route to resolving commercial disputes, whether that is by informal negotiation, mediation or Court proceedings.”

She continued: “Ross’s expertise in commercial dispute resolution perfectly complements the existing commercial legal experience at Tallents. Our team is able to support clients by providing pragmatic and robust commercial law advice, whether their businesses are small or large.”
