Iconic fashion brand to create 250 jobs in Derby

No Ordinary Designer Label, the company behind the Ted Baker clothing brand, has taken a pre-let on Anglesea Logistics Partnerships’ and Goodman Logistics UK’s 325,000 sq ft warehouse on Derby Commercial Park in a deal which will create 250 jobs in the city.

The facility, which was developed speculatively, is currently being fitted out and due for completion at the beginning of May. Once fully operational it will serve as the new Pan-European Distribution Centre for the retailer, handling all operations for its retail, wholesale and e-commerce businesses across Europe.

The warehouse will operate 24/7 and offer operational space providing sufficient capacity to support the brand’s long term growth whilst creating 250 new jobs in the region.

Derby Commercial Park is a 165 acre site located two miles east of Derby City centre, at Raynesway. To date, £175m has been invested in developing the site, including a £20m infrastructure programme that has improved access to and around the park. In 2014 Goodman completed a 632,000 sq ft art build to suit distribution facility for Kuehne & Nagel on the park.

The development of Angle 325 constitutes an investment of £25m in Derby Commercial Park and is the first of three speculative warehouses to be completed as part of the partnership formed with Goodman Logistics UK back in October 2015. Overall the partnership will provide over 900,000 sq ft of logistics space throughout the UK.

Nick Sowerbutts of Anglesea Capital, funders and asset managers to Anglesea Logistics Partnerships, said: “We are delighted to announce the letting to No Ordinary Designer Label and to welcome the Ted Baker brand to Derby Commercial Park. This letting not only supports our decision to undertake a high quality speculative development in partnership with Goodman but also demonstrates Derby’s strength as a prime UK distribution location.”

Goodman development director Nigel Dolan said: “Our decision to partner with Anglesea Capital in the development of this speculative facility at Derby Commercial Park, one of our flagship UK developments, has been more than vindicated with the signing of this pre-let to Ted Baker ahead of completion.”

Martin Rawson, deputy leader of Derby City Council, added: “The announcement of national retail brand Ted Baker taking 325,000 sq ft of space is a real coup for the city. Ted Baker’s investment into Derby is greatly received and the expected 250 jobs or more over the coming year is warmly welcomed.”

John Forkin, managing director of Marketing Derby, said: “Marketing Derby and Derby City Council have worked closely with Goodman Development and Anglesea Capital to help secure this major investment, bringing quality and much needed jobs into the city.”
