Muldoon takes over at MCS

Muldoon and Wyles

A Nottingham-based family business is being passed from one generation to another after more than 25 years.

Midland Conference Services (MCS), an event production company which works with some of the UK’s most iconic brands, was set up by Peter Wyles in 1987. His daughter Rebecca Muldoon will now take the reigns as managing director, spearheading the company’s growth plans over the next five years.

Muldoon, who has worked in the family business for the last nine years, said: “The business has been a huge part of family life for almost as long as I can remember so to have the opportunity to follow in Dad’s footsteps is extremely exciting. Customer service excellence and going the extra mile is inherent in our culture and that will continue to be our priority. Alongside that, we are looking to grow our client base, increase revenues year on year and invest more in marketing, new technology and recruiting and retaining a strong team.”

MCS employs eight people, as well as working with a network of freelancers, and has an annual turnover of over £750,000. The company specialises in audio visual production and set and stage design for live events spanning conferences, award ceremonies, televised interviews, road shows, exhibitions and product launches.

Wyles said: “Stepping down from a business that you have built over nearly 30 years is never easy, but I’m delighted that we’re keeping MCS in the family. Rebecca has the right experience, approach and vision to take the company forward and start a new chapter in its development. I’m looking forward to retirement and to seeing the business go from strength to strength.”

Muldoon added: “I have two young daughters and I always like to provide them with the opportunity to visit the office and find out about the family business. It’s good to show them what I do and what the business stands for. I want them to forge their own path in life, but if one of them wanted to join the business one day that would be amazing.”
